Peri-implantitis: Etiology, Diagnosis, and Treatment

This webinar is designed to provide clinicians with an understanding of the definitions, risk factors, proper diagnosis, and distinguishable traits of peri-implant mucositits and periodontitis. In this 60-minute webinar, Dr. Favagehi will cover treatment options with case presentations involving non-surgical, laser based, surgical, and regenerative treatment for peri-implantitis.

Learning Objectives:
Recognize the main risk factors that contribute to peri-implantitis
Understand the definitions and diagnosis of peri-implant mucositits and peri-implantitis
Understand the similarities and differences between periodontitis and peri-implantitis
Become familiar with options to treat peri-implantitis including non-surgical, surgical, and laser based treatment
Strategies to minimize the incidence of peri-implantitis in a clinical setting

Dr. Mehrdad Favagehi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontics. He received his dental education and specialty training at the Virginia Commonwealth University and The Ohio State University. He has received a teaching award from the American Academy of Periodontology in 2011. Dr. Favagehi is currently the Chairman of the Research Submissions Committee of the Academy of Osseointegration. He has lectured in the area of implants and lasers nationally and internationally. Dr. Favagehi and his wife Dr. Christopher have maintained a private practice of Periodontics & Dental Implant Surgery in Falls Church, VA since 1997.
